How to check anchorage when anchors in different plane?

How to analyze and check concrete anchorage capacity when post installed anchors are connected to the concrete structure in two direction. Is there any minimum criteria in placing the anchors in such conditions? As per the detail attached vertical shear from the steel beam gets transferred as shear (slight tension will also be developed) to anchors in horizontal plane and as tension force to anchors in vertical plane.

Dear Mr. Rony,

Thanks for your question.

There is no easy way to model such cases because the applied loads from both sides will utilize same concrete twice and will overestimate the concrete capacity at the end.

In such cases, we can do an engineering judgement and for this we need to move the anchors away so as not to overlap. Then each plate should be separately analyzed based on edge distances and then combine the maximum concrete utilization from each plate to check if its less than 1.

If you have a real application, then you can share with us and will be more than happy to assist you.

Best regards
