what the difference of Non-crack anchor to Crack Anchor
Hi Abelardo,
Thank you for posting on Ask Hilti
Condition of existing base material depends upon the choice of anchor. For instance, in a simply supported concrete beam under compression, portion of beam above neutral axis is under compression and below NA is under tension. Due to low tensile strength, concrete in tension develops cracks (even at serviceability) and concrete is considered cracked in that region. Alternatively, part of part of beam under compression is considered as un-cracked. Load carrying capacity of an anchor is highly influenced due to presence of crack. For this reason, we normally have anchors which can be used in cracked and non-cracked concrete. Generally anchors for cracked concrete can be used for both non-cracked and cracked concrete.
Hope this answers your question.
Regards
Vivek
